NOTABLES:
The Oscar Nazi earns her title: The 48 hour rule is established for ballot entries and so begins years of squabbling.
Stamps, shmaps: First year contestants send in picks via e-mail.
Holy losing streak, Batman: After years of exclusively betting against odds-on favorites, Gabe sells out, votes for a Titanic
sweep, and finishes with a respectable score of 11!
John’s fall from grace: After years of priding himself on consistently picking best foreign films, John fails to pick
“Character,” and - hoodwinked by the prowess of Film Noir - John goes against the first piece of Oscar advice he ever gave
Jami and votes AGAINST an epic for cinematography, picking “LA Confidential.”
What, did James Cameron direct this too...?: The telecast lasts an un-godly 3hrs 45min - a half hour longer than
“Titanic.”
There’s so much evil in the world: “Titanic” ties “All About Eve” for the most nominations ever (14) and “Ben Hur” for the
most won (11).
Best Acceptance Speech: Hands down... Stanley Donnen (Lifetime Achievement) who sang & danced his speech!
