So with just two weeks to go until Oscars, I decided to revisit my picks.  I'm still happy that I chose to use my split pick for Picture.  It is looking by all markers that "The Hurt Locker" will have the edge, but I won't count out Hollywood's predilection to sell out and vote for the bigger, crappier movie.  Half the town was employed for "Avatar" and it was James Cameron's decade-long quest, realized.  The academy loves that stuff.

I'm feeling more secure about my pick of director, though.  Initially, I thought the Academy would be looking to reward Cameron for acheiving his goal so successfully, However, now it seems as though it's Bigelow's award to lose.  The Academy has been awarding more minorities of late and a female best director winner seems more than past due.

The pick of mine which makes me most nervous?  Easy.  In the "no guts, no glory" category, I picked "Gabourey Sidibe" for Best Actress instead of either Sandra Bullock, or Meryl Steep.  I figured, maybe this early talk of itonly being between the two actresses would make room for an "Adrien Brody" type of upset, but no... I know see that the hand writing is on the wall and she of "Speed 2" will soon be known as "Academy Award Winner" Sandra Bullock.

I've seen several more of the films since filling out my ballot and am wondering would I have voted for "Inglourious Basterds" a bit more had I known I would have enjoyed it so much when I voted?  Who's to say?  That's one of the many reasons for the 48 hour rule.  If I hadn't instituted that, I'd be changin my picks right up until Barbara Walters signed off.

Best of luck on your ballots!
